This will be heralded every 10 seconds, leaving you to decide which of the 'fortified' infantry positions really need attention and which can be resolved by let's say throwing a coconut, toothbrush, some cotton pads or stepping one pace left and then shoot. Let me give two examples of why fighting with the badass marines of MoHPA and being out on a bicycle ride with a bunch of retarded chimpanzees is not of noticable difference: If an attacking Hiroshi Japanimoto takes cover behind a tree or a crate, he is henceforth regarded as 'dug in'. Though I am aware that this is what I'm supposed to do as a player, I've had other shooters where my team mates would follow scripts that would at least be helpful to some extend. I simply gave up at a certain point trying to make them do something helpful and started to take care of every single thing by myself. The choice which atrocity bothers you less is at least yours. There are some 16:9 resolutions supported but these being way below 1600x1200 resolution leaves you - using a big 16:10 display - fighting the Imperial Army of Japan (8bit Divisions).

On a plus side CoD will support custom screen resolution and ratio settings (though through horrible textfile support), while MoHPA can be played 1600x1200, 4:3 max which looks you are fighting the Imperial Army of Curiously Short and Fat Japanese Men. Even the first 2003 release of CoD looks more decent than MoH. In terms of graphics I would like to take side for CoD. I know there's a huge debate going on between players of Call of Duty and MoH about which franchise is better. The longer list of things I hated: The Graphics are outdated even for a 2004 release. The tense atmosphere in the last campaign, the taking of Tarawa. In MoHPA it either won't or will be very seldom. Usually I put on a certain number of those with the reassuring fact in the back of my head that there will be a med pack somewhere after.

Other things I liked: The medics are a welcomingly different approach to actually have yourself starting to manage the pleas for help and/or decrease the number of suicidal charges during a level.

Unfortunatley that is - along with some other minor things - the probably only Pro I was able to set against a lot of Cons. The game is set in the rather unworn Pacific Theater. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In addition, Pacific Assault features new multiplayer modes in which up to 32 players can choose soldiers from American, British, Japanese, and other armies. Medal of Honor Pacific Assault follows the tradition of previous Medal of Honor products with a brand new arsenal of weapons, new enemies, and new storyline. Armed with their wits and a variety of authentic weapons, it's up to players to stop the Japanese war machine in its tracks. Set in the Pacific Theatre of Operations from 1941-1944, players will assume the role of Marine recruit Tom Conlin as he survives the attack on Pearl Harbor, leads the assault on Guadalcanal, and finally charges up the beaches for the climatic battle at Tarawa. Set in the Pacific Theatre of Operations from 1941-1944, players will assume the role of Marine recruit Medal of Honor Pacific Assault gives players a sense of the courage it took to fight the Imperial Japanese Army from the shock of Pearl Harbor to triumph on the shores of the Tarawa Atoll. Summary: Medal of Honor Pacific Assault gives players a sense of the courage it took to fight the Imperial Japanese Army from the shock of Pearl Harbor to triumph on the shores of the Tarawa Atoll.Unfortunately, they're the only marines you'd survive with usually. The dialogue is also fairly alright, your character, Tom Colin with his squad mates nearly all the time (since boot camp actually)and they sure do stand out quite well. Though I admit, fighting in jungles most of the time was a bit of a drag despite being set in the Pacific Theatre. Good thing you don't die automatically too (since there's more wounded than dead in war). You can order your squad mates to advance, provide cover fire, retreat and rally up. PA also contrasts differently to its predecessors. The game could allow you to use the M1 rifle with a bayonet (very deadly too!) and for historical accuracy, I have no complaints save for the fact that the ship the player was in at the first level was actually badly damaged during the Pearh Harbour attack. All in all, Pacific Assault was one of the best Medal of Honor games I've ever played and perhaps, one of the most realistic of its time.
